My client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Gibraltar, delivering a broad range of civil and structural engineering services across the territory.

Due to continued workload and repeat business, they are seeking a practical and client-focused Structural Engineer to take ownership of a varied portfolio of small-to-medium-sized projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys project variety, autonomy and direct client interaction. Instead of working on a single large development for months at a time, you'll be involved in numerous projects simultaneously, managing schemes from initial enquiry through to design and delivery.

You will become the consultancy's principal point of contact for smaller structural commissions, working closely with homeowners, developers, architects, contractors and commercial clients.

The role

You will manage a diverse range of structural engineering projects, from initial assessment and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

Projects are typically fast-moving, highly varied and often involve direct client engagement, making this an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys practical problem-solving and seeing projects through from start to finish.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of small structural engineering projects

• Undertaking site inspections and condition surveys

• Carrying out structural assessments and investigations

• Preparing structural calculations, drawings and technical reports

• Designing in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and timber

• Liaising directly with clients, architects and contractors

• Preparing fee proposals and responding to new enquiries

• Providing practical, commercially minded engineering advice

• Supporting project delivery through construction where required

• Helping maintain and grow relationships with repeat clients and local stakeholders

• Residential extensions and alterations

• Structural inspections and defect investigations

• Refurbishment and renovation schemes

• Structural strengthening works

• Commercial property modifications

• Change-of-use projects

• Retaining walls and external structures

• Due diligence and condition surveys

• Local infrastructure and property-related projects

• Temporary works and construction support assignments

No two weeks are likely to be the same, with a healthy mix of office-based design work and site visits.

What you’ll need

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

• Solid experience with design, as well as undertaking structural surveys and inspections

• Ability to manage projects independently and deal directly with clients and contractors

• Knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards

• Experience with refurbishment, alteration or building modification projects

• Fluent English; some Spanish would be an advantage

• Full right to work in Gibraltar (UK or EU citizenship)
