As the company's geotechnical specialist, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of geotechnical work across a diverse range of projects, while working closely with the wider engineering team. External specialist support will also be available when required.

What you’ll be doing
This is a newly created position, and you will be the company's dedicated geotechnical specialist, with the backing of an external geotechnical consultant team for additional support when needed. You will work on a diverse range of projects with varying magnitude and complexity, across a variety of sectors - including foundation design for complex refurbishment projects within constrained urban environments, slope stabilisation and tunnel works in rock, rockfall assessment, hazard analysis and remediation works.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Geotechnical data assessment, analysis, risk assessment, modelling, and reporting
Geotechnical desk studies and scoping, specification, management, and supervision of geotechnical site investigations
Site characterisation including ground modelling and geotechnical interpretation
Geotechnical design including substructure, and preparation of ground models
Undertake numerical modelling and analysis of slopes, walls, foundations, and other geotechnical structures
Cliff face inspection; rock fall hazard and risk analysis and modelling, and design of rock fall protective measures
What you’ll need
You can be just the right person for this Associate Geotechnical Engineer role if you have:
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Geophysics or similar subject
Chartered Engineer status
Min. 7 years of relevant geotechnical design experience, at least partially gained in the UK or Gibraltar or working on international projects in an English-speaking environment
Knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards
Experience in seismic / earthquake design would be a distinct advantage
Confidence operating independently as the sole geotechnical resource in-house, with external support available when required
EU or UK citizenship
